Cray Wanderers can confirm the signing of forward Charlie MacDonald to the club made on 10th January.
Charlie is a player with a wealth of experience in the Football League and in the higher reached of the non-league game and came to Cray from Greenwich Borough.
Charlie came through the youth teams at Millwall and Charlton Athletic and played for Charlton Athletic’s first team making his debut against Nottingham Forest in January 2000. He scored one goal for Charlton in 8 appearances and after some loan spells at various clubs went into the non-league game with Margate in 2002.
He went on to play for Stevenage Borough and Crawley Town whilst they were still in the non-league and later Gravesend & Northfleet before returning to the Football League with Southend United and then achieved great success with Brentford securing promotion from League 2 in 2008-09 and scored 40 goals in 111 appearances for the Bees. He later went to Milton Keynes Dons, Leyton Orient and Oldham Athletic. In 2014-15 he returned to the non-league with Barnet becoming club captain as the side won promotion from the National League. A year later he went to Boreham Wood and then a year after that in the summer of 2016 to Greenwich Borough helping them settle in the Isthmian League for the first time and scored 18 goals in 33 appearances for Borough.
Charlie got his Cray Wanderers career off to a great start scoring twice in the 4-2 win against VCD Athletic and adds a proven goalscoring record
