FOOTBALL CONFERENCE YOUTH ALLIANCE: 14/10/15
Cray Wanderers (1) 1
Crystal Palace FA (3) 7
The Cray Wanderers Academy team went down to defeat in their latest league matc when they were beaten at home by a very strong Crystal Palace FA team. Once again Cray put in a lot of endeavour and kept going until the end but ultimately they were always up against it a big looking side.
Palace went one up after seven minutes following a header from a corner and made it two three minutes later with a fine strike from the right back.
After this the game evened up for a spell and Cray were unlucky not to score when James Stewart beat the offside trap to advance on goal but pulled his wide shot wide.
Cray did pull a goal back in the 35th minute with a good piece of fortune when a clearance from the Palace keeper hit Stewart and ended up in the back of the net.
Cray really needed to keep the game close up to half time but Palace restored their two goal lead direct from a 25 yard free kick.
The second half saw Palace mostly in control and Sam Crawford made some fine saves but the visitors scored another three clinically taken goals by the 62nd minute.
Cray almost pulled a goal back when from a free kick, Jordan Muriyah played in George Warren whose stinging near post shot brought a great save from the keeper.
Palace scored their final goal in the 81st minute with a long range strike and Cray almost got on the scoresheet at the end when Warren set up Reece Lockett who shot over the top.
The Academy are next in action next Wednesday when they are away to Millwall Lions at Coldharbour Leisure Centre.
The team selection: Sam Crawford, Reece Lockett, Tyler Donkin, Toby Bennett, Gabriel Moses (Liam Kirkby), George Leach (Mitchell Francis), Jordan Muriyah, Harvey Sansom (Adam Bennett), James Stewart, George Warren (Capt.), Myles Wilson
