It promises to be a big night tonight as the top 2 in the Ryman North clash at Hayes Lane in one of the biggest games of the season as Cray Wanderers take on AFC Sudbury. Kick off is at 7.45 pm.
Cray and AFC Sudbury go into the game on five game winning runs and are separated at the top by 6 points with Cray having a much better goal difference.
The Wands maintained their good form last Saturday with a 3-1 home win against Wroxham which saw a fine 20 minute flourish from Ben Hunt with two goals and there were good performances throughout the team especially in the midfield area. Cray have really cranked into gear in the last few weeks and appear fresh with so few midweek games recently.
AFC Sudbury however will prove very stern opponents for Cray this evening and are themselves in good winning form. They are particularly good away from home with eight wins on their travels so far this season and with momentum could well be one of the favourites for automatic promotion.
They have certainly made big strides since our previous meeting back in August when Cray produced probably the most eye catching result of the season with a 6-2 win at Sudbury. Two goals apiece from Leigh Bremner and Andre McCollin were added to by fine strikes from Karl Dent and Grant Basey helped Cray on to a big three points but any expectation of a repeat scoreline will be highly unlikely this evening and the Wands will have to pull out another top drawer performance to emerge victorious in this game.
This could be a great way to spend a mid December evening so why not come along, bring friends and enjoy the sort of game many Cray fans have yearned for some time as league leaders and playing such great football and so easy on the eye.
Admission prices are £10.00 for adults, £4 for concessions and U16s and students on presentation of card.
