SELKENT LEAGUE U14B West 11/10/15
Cray Wanderers 7
Petts Wood Herons 0
The Selkent League Cray U14s showed their qualities with a stylish 7-0 win against Petts Wood at Mottingham Playing Fields.
The star of the show for Timi Osidobu’s team was Nathaniel Ampah who scored a first half hat trick and had a hand in three of the other goals.
Both keepers had to make smart saves in the opening stages before Cray took the lead after 8 mins. Ampah received the ball in space inside the area but looked to have been closed down by the defence but managed to get the ball in a shooting position and lashed the ball high into the back of the net.
Ampah scored his second in the 14 minute showing great composure to despatch a fine through ball. He completed his hat trick three minutes later with another close range finish and looked a player high in confidence.
Herons came close to pulling one back but Ronnie Meikie cleared off the line whilst for Cray, Kelvin Bakare-Okon brought a good save out of the Herons keeper.
It was 4-0 five minutes before the break when Ampah made a strong run forward into the box and got a shot in which the keeper saved but tapped in by William Webher.
Cray continued to dictate play in the second half and four minutes after the restart scored a fine fifth goal when once again Ampah showed his qualities with a fine pass through to Bakare-Akon who drilled a low shot into the bottom right corner.
Cray keeper Thomas Kelly-Reynolds made a super save from a close range shot as the Herons looked to get a foothold in the game.
It became 6-0, 15 minutes into the second half when good combination play between Ampah and Chandler Ihoner saw the ball go back to Ampah inside the area and then unselfishly set up Thomas Crompton for a fine finish from 8 yards.
A header from Prokash Newman came back off the crossbar before Newman completed the scoring with a few minutes to go when he tucked home an excellent finish after the defence couldn’t clear from just inside the penalty area.
This was a very good performance by the young Wands and look like a side that really enjoy their football and next week they are in London Cup action as they travel to Beckenham Youth.

In the Selkent League, the Cray U10s Piranhas played out a very entertaining 2-2 draw at home to Eversley Rangers White. Both teams played some excellent football with chances at both ends. Cray led at half time through a fine strike from Henderson Russell. Cray went two nil up through a Blu Husthwaite strike before two goals in two minutes pegged the Wands back. In the end a draw was about the right result in a game that was a credit to both teams.
