Cray Wanderers Youth Roundup – 9/10/18
Apologies for the lack of a main report from myself today. I wasn’t not at all well this morning so had to give a game a miss this week but hope to be back next Sunday for a bumper roundup before the Christmas/New Year break
There were many of our fantastic teams in action today despite the rather wet and unpleasant start to the day.
In the Kent Youth League, the Cray Wanderers U14s have gone top of the Central Division table with a 3-1 win against Lordswood at Foots Cray Rugby Club with a hat-trick from Ronnie Roberts. Cray have a three point lead at the top from Thamesmead Town and nine points clear of third placed Glebe but both do have four games in hand of Cray.
The U13s have been in tremendous form of late and after two big wins just needed one goal to beat Bromley 1-0 at home in the Central Division. Cray are second in the table, four points behind leaders Whyteleafe.
The U16s received a bye in the Kent League Cup after Dulwich Hamlet were deemed to have fielded an ineligible player so have advanced in the competition. Cray are third in the North Division table but have also been in remarkable recent form with 48 goals in 7 games.
Into the Selkent League the U13s Lions are top of the U13B Yellow Division and after eight straight wins in the league drew 1-1 at home to Danson Sports to maintain their unbeaten start and lead the table by two points from Petts Wood Razorbills. The Cray Wanderers U13s Sharks were not in action today and are second in the U13s A table.
The U12s Piranhas have also made a good start to the season and in a top of the table clash drew 2-2 at home to league leaders Dartford FC White with the visitors scoring late on to prevent a Cray victory. Cray are second in the table two points behind Dartford but with a game in hand.
The U14s were beaten in a close game 2-3 at home to Welling Youth while the U12s Sharks gave an excellent account of themselves before losing 2-3 at second placed Teviot Rangers.
The Cray Wanderers U7s, our youngest age group side have been unbeaten all season and made they debut today in the Selkent League and advanced to February’s Semi Final with an 8-0 win against Orpington and a 1-0 win against Dulwich Village Black to go through.
The U9s Sharks were unfortunate to lose 0-1 at home to Phoenix Sports at Foots Cray Rugby Club.
With one more Sunday of league action before the Christmas break this has been a tremendous 2018 for our youth sides at all age levels and the future is extremely bright.
