Cray Wanderers Youth Roundup – Part 2
Faversham Trophies U15s Challenge Cup – 1st Round
Faversham Town U15s 2 Cray Wanderers U15s 7
The Cray Wanderers U15s advanced to the 2nd Round of the Faversham Trophies League Cup with a crushing win against Faversham Town. With many thanks to Lee Amis for his report of the game.
An early start with an 8am meet meant the lads getting up at 6.30am to get to the home ground. Cray made five changes from last weeks starting eleven for this game.
Crays started the game strongly and had a goal disallowed after three minutes. The linesman was going to a very busy man today.
Five minutes later and Chris Al Hassan breaks free and scores right footed into the bottom corner.
The pressure continues and Al Hassan scored again after 15 minutes to make it 2-0.
Cray are now playing so well it look at will as if they would score and they do from a free kick but again the linesman’s flag ruled out the goal.
Half Time: 2-0
The second half started and Cray looked very flat and got caught out be a great free kick that was headed in by the Faversham no 6. Game on.
Cray did no more than to go back up the other end and scored what has to be one of the best goals you will see anywhere this weekend. Jessie Bonishie won the ball and midfield and hit a looping shot from 30 yards that dipped over the keepers head – 3-1.
The next goal came five minutes later with Tion Cudjoe getting his weekly goal with a left foot strike into the bottom corner, 4-1 and time to relax. Not quite as Faversham scored again to make it 4-2, game on again.
Faversham were now looking tired and Kola Salami beat the offside trap to make it 5-2. The linesman had his flag up but the ref just chose to ignore him twenty minutes into the second half.
Cray scored two more goals with Al Hassan getting his hat-trick and Cudjoe scoring his second and to finish the game 7-2 winners.
Cray next meet SC Thamesmead at home next Sunday looking to make it 5 wins out of 5.
Here are the results of Cray Wanderers Youth team games played today.
Some fine performances as you can see with the eye catching one, the U12s 17-0 win in the cup at Sutton Athletic. They remain unbeaten as do the U15s who won 7-2 at Faversham in the League Cup and the U11s Lions who were 8-3 winners against Red Devils.
