Thank you to the great Cray Wanderers Sage, Pete Goringe who has announced that Danny Haynes goal at Molesey on Saturday broke a club consecutive goalscoring record that had stood since the 1957-58 season. Goals at Molesey and Hythe has taken his run to ten consecutive games in which he has scored (either side of a three game suspension). Congratulations to Danny for this achievement.
His run started with two goals in the first FA Trophy tie with Carshalton Athletic, then two others against the Robins in the league game the following Saturday then a goal each against Guernsey and Lewes. Another two goals against Carshalton in the replay was followed by a three game absence and then goals against Worthing, Chipstead, Horsham, Molesey and Hythe Town.
The previous record was held by club legend and Hall of Famer, Ken Collishaw who scored in eight consecutive games in the 1957-58 season.
Ken though does still hold records that will be very hard to beat with 57 goals scored that season and a career total of 274.
