A note to all supporters that Paul Lorraine has decided not to re-sign for Cray Wanderers for 2017-18.
I’m sure I speak for all supporters when I say thank you to Paul for a tremendous season of service in which Paul was also the Assistant Player Manager.
A tremendous reader of the game, fine tackler and a threat from set pieces, Paul came to Cray in the summer of 2016 and took over the Assistant Player Manager role from Ray Powell and was an instant hit with the fans.
The former AFC Wimbledon, Ebbsfleet, Dartford and Whitehawk player despite being not being always at his fittest played 38 games in league and cup. The only thing missing was a goal but he came close to scoring on several occasions.
A giant on the pitch and a gentleman off it, Paul is a very dedicated pro and would always be one of the last to leave after an away game and would always speak to me keen for my opinion on the game and perhaps his performance. He also had many a good word to say about the supporters. We’ll also miss his “tight as you like” instruction to his fellow centre-halves.
We wish Paul all the very best in his next adventure and looks to have a bright future in the game. I’m sure he will always be welcomed at Hayes Lane and hopefully Flamingo Park in the near future.
Thank you Paul and good luck.
