We are pleased to announce on Thursday, 3rd August that ‘The Best of Cray Chatter, Volume Two’ will be published in association with Cray 150 Publications.
This follows on from last year’s opening volume and has been compiled by club Historian and writer of many books about the oldest Football Club in London and the Cray’s itself, Jerry Dowlen. Jerry is one of the most respected football writers in the country and started up Cray Chatter which helped to piece together the clubs long history.
Cray Chatter was a local interest magazine for supporters and friends of the Cray Wanderers football club. It ran to more than seventy issues between the years 1980 to 2002. There were many different contributors from the local community. This second instalment of the best of the contributions recalls some of the most interesting, entertaining and humorous articles that appeared in the magazine.
Although started before the fanzine craze began, for lovers of football writing both volumes are a must and with written football fanzines rapidly being phased out for online forums The Best of Cray Chatter is definitely for traditionalists who like to read an alternative view in an around the club.
The Best of Cray Chatter volume Two is published on the same day as the pre-season friendly with Dorking Wanderers and will be available on the night and at the first Bostik South league game at home to Thamesmead on 12th August and subsequent home matches priced £4.95. Alternatively it can be purchased from the Croft Tea Room, 263 St Mary Cray High Street (open Wednesdays to Sundays).
Visit the Cray150 Publications website for information and other related books about the club and the Crays.
