New Signings!

Cameron Black (Season long loan) – Defender

Cray Wanderers are delighted to announce the signing on a season long loan of Cameron Black for the 2023-24 season.

Central Defender Cameron comes to Cray from Dorking Wanderers and is a player with huge potential.   Cameron started out in the Brighton & Hove Albion youth system before joining Dorking Wanderers Academy.  He spent a large chunk of the 2021-22 season at Leatherhead and played in both league games against the Wands that season making 29 appearances.

He started the 2022-23 season at Hampton & Richmond Borough but moved to Bognor Regis Town on loan in November 2022 also making 29 appearances for the Rocks.

We welcome Cameron to Cray Wanderers and hope he enjoys his time with the club.

Jamie Mascoll  –  Left Back/Midfield

Cray Wanderers are delighted to announce the signing of left back Jamie Mascoll to the club.  Jamie joins Cray from Hornchurch whom he joined from Lewes and played against the Wands in the Isthmian Premier Playoff Semi-Final in April 2023.

Jamie is making his return to the Wands after coming through our Youth system in the late 00’s and joined Cray in early 2016 on loan from Dulwich Hamlet making 14 appearances and scoring twice against Soham Town Rangers and Wroxham.

Catford born Jamie went into the Youth system at Dulwich Hamlet in 2014 and made 8 league appearances in three seasons but during that time spent loan spells with Phoenix Sports and Cray Wanderers.  He moved on to Grays Athletic for the 2016-17 season and before the following season joined Charlton Athletic U23s making his first team debut in the EFL Trophy against Fulham in November 2017.  After a brief spell back at Dulwich Hamlet on loan in 2019 he was signed by Wycombe Wanderers for the 2019-20 season making eight appearances and part of the side which won promotion to the Championship via the playoffs.  He joined Bolton Wanderers for the 2020-21 season making 7 league appearances before joining Waterford on loan in 2021 in the League of Ireland.

He returned to non-league football in 2021 joining Wealdstone making 17 league appearances and before joining Lewes in October 2022 season making 22 league appearances, scoring twice playing in both league matches against the Wands and then on to Hornchurch in March 2023.

We are delighted to have Jamie back with Cray Wanderers and hope he enjoys his time back with us.

George Porter – Midfield/Forward

Cray Wanderers are delighted to announce the signing of George Porter and a return to the club after thirteen years away.  George comes to Cray from Dulwich Hamlet whom he joined in the summer of 2022 from Dartford.

George was a graduate of Cray Wanderers co-operation with Coopers’ School in Chislehurst and made his debut in the 2009-10 season, the Wands first in the Isthmian Premier.  He made an impressive 35 appearances scoring 7 goals which drew the attention of Leyton Orient and signed for the East London Club in the summer of 2010.  George made 35 appearances for the O’s and had loan spells at Lewes and Hastings United before signing for Burnley in 2012 but never made an appearance at Turf Moor but did have valuable league experience at Colchester United and AFC Wimbledon on loan.  

After a spell at Rochdale he moved to Dagenham & Redbridge for the 2014-15 season before going on to Maidstone United and Welling United.  In 2016 he joined Bromley under Neil Smith and was part of the side which reached the FA Trophy Final in 2018 and made close to 120 league appearances for the club.

In 2020 he returned to Maidstone before joining Dartford for the 2020-21 season and then on to Dulwich last season where he made 39 appearances scoring 12 goals.

George’s football career has now turned full circle and back to where it all started and we welcome George back to the Wands.

Archy Taylor – Right Back/Defender

Cray Wanderers are delighted to announce the signing of Archy Taylor to the club

Archy is a right sided defender who comes to the Wands from Hartley Wintney FC and made 16 appearances for them last season.

Archy came through the Metropolitan Police FC Academy and broke into their first team and made 30 appearances in three seasons scoring 3 goals and is a player with huge potential.

Archy also continues the great line of Taylor’s to play for Cray from George, Alan, Graham, Martin, Steve, Elliott, James, Joe to Joey.

We welcome Archy to Cray Wanderers and hope he enjoys his stay with the club.

RETAINED PLAYERS

Mitch Chapman – Midfield

Cray Wanderers are delighted that Mitch Chapman has been retained to the club for the 2023-24 season.  Midfielder Mitch signed for Cray from Ramsgate in the summer of 2022 where he spent three seasons.  

Mitch became a fan favourite in his first season with his strong performances in midfield and made 24 appearances scoring 3 goals before an injury at Aveley in January ruled him out for the rest of the season.

Mitch is the son of former Millwall, Leyton Orient and Cray Wanderers midfielder Danny Chapman and has also played for Faversham Town, East Grinstead Town, Hythe Town and Ebbsfleet United.

We welcome Mitch back to Cray Wanderers for the 2023-24 season.

David Ijaha – Midfield

Cray Wanderers are delighted to announce that David Ijaha has been retained for the 2023-24 season.

David joined the Wands in September 2022 and the midfielder had a solid campaign making 30 appearances and scoring twice including a goal in the Isthmian Premier Playoff Semi Final at Hornchurch on 26th April.

David was a youth team player at Chelsea and Wolves where he played for the U18s before going into the non-league game with Harrow Borough in 2010. He went on to play for St. Albans City, Tonbridge Angels, Hayes & Yeading United and Whitehawk where he made 62 appearances between 2014-16 before being signed by Plymouth Argyle where he made three appearances during the 2016-17 season.

After a short spell at Wealdstone, David returned to Whitehawk for the 2017-18 season and then on to Welling United, Dulwich Hamlet and Dartford at the end of the 2021-22 season and another short spell at Whitehawk.

We welcome back David to the Wands in what is looking a pretty stellar midfield.

RETURN TO CRAY WANDERERS

Physio – Ally Maloney

Cray Wanderers are delighted to announce that Ally Maloney has returned as club Physio for the 2023-24 season.

Ally comes to Cray after two seasons at Barking FC after leaving the Wands in March 2021 but with the position vacant after the retirement of Emily Sawyer, Ally steps back into the role with her considerable expertise.

Ally came into football as a protege of the late Cray Valley PM physio Alex Gallego and from her training she was taken on by Greenwich Borough who were managed by Steve Firkins.  He moved on to Fisher and Ally joined the matchday staff there and then later on to Erith & Belvedere who won a league and cup double in the SCEFL Premier in 2012-13.  She then moved on to VCD Athletic and then on to Cray Wanderers in the summer of 2015 where she remained until 2021 and was part of the Isthmian South-East title winners in 2018-19 winning a championship medal.  She went on to Barking FC in 2021 but has been physio for social media football sensations SE Dons since their inception.  Ally has also been a confident internet radio co-host and the Queen of Twitter. 

We welcome Ally back to Cray Wanderers and the incredible expertise she provides in this most important of club roles.
