Result- Friendly Cray Wanderers 1 Charlton Athletic U23s 2. Lively performance from Charlton and Jack Turner in particular made some fine saves. Charlton went ahead on 76 minutes through the Mason Burstow but Cray levelled on 84 with a fine Fjord Rogers finish. Charlton though were slick throughout and won the game in the last minute when the Burstow scored his second with a close range finish.
Charlton’s passing and movement was impressive throughout and after Jai Reason fired a free kick over in the 2nd minute and another free kick from Adam Coombes curled past the post the Reds had a great spell with a goal disallowed for offside and then Jack Turner made five good saves as the first half went on.
The second half saw more Charlton chances which again Turner did well to deny the forwards and some wayward finishing from the visitors kept the score 0-0. Anthony Cook came close when he curled wide from a Coombes flick but Charlton eventually took the lead when Mason Burstow fired home from the edge of the area. Cray though levelled with a well taken goal on 84 minutes when Fjord Rogers who is in the middle of a loan spell at Sevenoaks clipped home a fine finish down the right of the area following tidy link up play between Daniel Uchechi and Chris Dickson. However, Charlton regrouped and went back in front with virtually the last kick of the game when Burstow scored his second when he converted a right wing cross but it was a useful workout for both sides.
