Cray stay top of the league and with a 100% record after a resounding win against a game and noble Herne Bay side who began the match with ten players and then eight outfield players by the end.

The Wands had scored seventeen in three games and on an incredibly warm and sunny Sunday took just two minutes to go in front when from 25 yards out Emily Symonds fired in a shot that the keeper couldn’t hold.

If that goal was special then in the 10th minute from around 40 yards Olivia Climpson floated a shot towards goal that looped into the net.

Cray cheered on by a gaggle of young enthusiast Wands players certainly for most of the half a minute later went three nil up and it was basically game over as Symonds found Adrianna Zak who finished well.

The no 27 shot wide for Herne Bay but Cray through the game must have had in the realms of forty five to fifty shots on and off goal.

In the 24th minute Ellie Bovill was played through by Millie Man and a minute after seeing a shot saved made no mistake.

Main who got off the mark with two goals at Bromley last Sunday grabbed a quick fire brace after the half hour to make it six nil.

Millie’s hat trick was completed in the last minute of the half from Ellie Rivers cross.

A minute later it was 8-0 with another Zak calm finish.

Incredibly it was three goals in three minutes when Zak set up Main for her fourth goal to make it 9-0 at half time as Herne Bay ended the half with nine players following an injury.

The second half saw Cray with some substitute changes still create chances and in the 55th minute Bovill got her second following up a shot saved to reach double figures.

For plucky Herne Bay the no 23 shot over from a free kick

On the hour Bovill scored her third when she tapped in at the far post from Olivia Climpson’s right wing cross.

After 65 mins Olivia Climpson who scored four at Bromley last Sunday made it a round dozen goals with a fine finish from outside the box.

Two minutes later Sarah White was found by Main to get on the scoresheet for her third of the season.

There was still time for two more goals and in the 80th minute Symonds saw a shot blocked and fell to Lola Collins who watched by Wands legendary striker Phil Collins drove down the right of the area placed a shot into the net.

The final goal came in the last minute when Frankie Mardon’s flick was pushed out by the keeper who must have made twenty saves and fell to Climpson to score her second.

You have to credit Cray’s professionalism to get the job done in style. For Herne Bay’s young players it was a chastening afternoon but would always be up against if not at full strength but credit them foe effort and hopefully when the teams meet at Herne Bay later in the season will be a much more competitive game.

Cray’s next game is next Sunday (11th October) at 2nd placed Hollands & Blair, 4.30 pm.
