Cray Wanderers 100 Club Draw Result for September

Hello and welcome to all Members of the CWFC 100 Club.

Firstly, I another apology for the lateness of this email and the draw for September was made a couple of days ago at the Dulwich Hamlet match. Another hectic period at my place of work but things have to make way for Football. But fortunately, I did find/made time to pay out the important winnings of this most recent of 100 Club draws!
So as mentioned, we did the draw on the evening of the Dulwich Hamlet game, where a healthy 813 attended despite Champions League Football on the TV. It probably affected the Dulwich away support more than us as not many turned up and they were very quiet although they didn’t have much to shout about as cray raced to a 3-0 first half lead, managed to score 2 late on and were defeated 2-4.

It was hectic off the pitch as well. The match was played in honour of Kerry Phillips, our former Club Secretary of both Cray Wanderers and Dulwich Hamlet who passed away in March 2024. Before-hand, we gave away a few accolades for the achievements of our junior teams as part of the Keith Reeve Memorial Award (our long time Club President who sadly passed away in December 2021) but which is now funded by Marie Reeve for £1000 a year for outstanding contributions to Cray Wanderers Youth over the year. Many thanks Marie for your continued support of Cray Wanderers Youth.

And at half time, we had a special presentation of a framed programme in honour of Kerry Phillips, made to his son and daughter Mark Phillips and Natasha Aldridge. We also asked Natasha to kindly draw the balls out of the tombola (actually bought by Kerry after a difficult search for one) for September’s 100 Club Draw.

So the first ball drawn by Natasha out of the tombola was ball number 62, which belonged to Richard Stone of Green-St-Green who wins the first prize of £150. Well done Richard and many congratulations on being this month’s winner.

The second ball drawn out for the second prize of £100, was number 30. This ball belonged to Mark Hunt, of Mottingham. As you know, Mark is our Social Media expert, updating Facebook and “X” (or Twitter as more familiar) during the match, writing the match reports and is my time-keeper for the Goal times. Congratulations Mark.

The third and final ball, drawn by Natasha and the winner of £50, went to Colin Heys of Orpington, with ball number 87. Colin assists, myself and Mark Hunt, in the press area with “dubious goals” and things we may have missed. Congratulations Colin.

Many congratulations to all our lucky winners and thanks again to all members for your continued support and participation in the 100 Club. It is nice that all of the balls selected by Natasha went to first time winners, which is pleasing to see. We hope to see both Natasha and Mark Phillips back at Flamingo Park in the near future.

Now for the usual any other business!
Firstly, the 100 Club usually sponsor a first team player, both enhancing Cray Wanderers’ coffers as well as giving the 100 Club a bit more publicity. There was rather a lot of activity on the Player Sponsorship front, for both the men and women. I managed to sponsor that rock at the heart of our defence Remi Sutton. I hope that this is a good and acceptable choice for our members?

If any of your family and friends wish to join the 100 Club, to boost the prize money and enable me to give more back to the club, please go to the 100 Club tab on the website, print off a form and send the completed form to me at the address provided. A form is also in the new-styled matchday programme. Again, copy it if you don’t want to ruin your programme and again send it to me. I will contact you to select a preferable and available number.

Please also contact me with any changes to your personal circumstances as soon as possible. For one, how will I know where to send your winnings?

I hope you are enjoying Luca’s match-day commentary and if unable to attend a match are finding it helpful.

You have to set up a log in and it did make me download an app called ”Mixlr”. So now when I click on the Mixlr app, it goes straight to “Radio Wands”’

Please support the petition started by Talia Wilson, who helps with matchday hospitality and catering to improve accessible travel to Cray Wanderers FC, has had an increase in signatures but unfortunately, we need more. Please support her efforts and get your friends and family involved too. It can be found at https://chng.it/kyZj9j7zYx

I’ve been using the 162 bus to Slades Drive and then the walk along the “footpath” (??) but will have to revert to other ways during the winter months.

So, until November’s draw which is earmarked for the Dartford match and which is also due to be played in honour of long-time clubman and committee member Peter Jackson, who as we know had a bit of a love-hate relationship with Dartford also being a possibly reluctant resident of said town, (a bit like me and East Ham!) take care and “Be lucky”.

Cheers!

COYW!!
