Cray Wanderers Women begin their pre-season schedule this afternoon as Dartford Women Development visit Flamingo Park. Kick off 3 pm
The Wands had a false start to pre-season last Sunday as the planned game at Tonbridge Angels was postponed. This will be the first of five currently planned games with visits to Sevenoaks Town (2/8), Brentwood Town (9/8) and home games with London City Lionesses U21s (12/8) and Crystal Palace U21s (16/8)..
With the FA Cup early rounds starting on 23rd August and the league usually a week later Cray will be looking to get some minutes in their legs against good opposition. Dartford Women Development will offer a good test and a side looking to provide future players to a strong Dartford Women FC.
The Wands had an incredible season in the SECWFL Premier and Cups in 2025/26 finishing 3rd and winning the SECWFL Cup and runners up in the Kent Plate.
Both Maidstone United and Tonbridge Angels stole a march last season in the league and now both have been promoted to The London and South East League so this will be an open season.
There are four new teams in the league this season with Biddenden, Chatham Town Development, Herne Bay Development and Kent United adding to Chislehurst Glebe, Hollands & Blair, Kings Hill, Margate and Tunbridge Wells Foresters.
The Cray Wanderers Women and Girls setup has been a huge success and the future is set up with the incredible U16s team who have won four County cups in a row and won a quintuple as U15s two seasons ago.
Sunday afternoon’s watching the Women’s team is a great joy and this could be another remarkable early chapter in the short history book of the team.
