Potters Bar Town vs Cray Wanderers – Isthmian Premier – Saturday 6th December – Match Report
Potters Bar Town 0
Cray Wanderers 2
Price 9 mins, Kader 90+2
Cray Wanderers moved up to fifth in the Isthmian Premier League table after a third away league win of the season plus a clean sheet to defeat Potters Bar Town.
After a bright and breezy opening few minutes which saw the home side hit the crossbar it was the Wands who took the lead in the ninth minute after returning loanee from Bromley, Soul Kader set up Freddie Price to score on his full league debut.
The game was still in the balance during at times was a scrappy second half but the points were secured after a superb goal from Kader two minutes into added time to claim the win.
Cray were looking to maintain a three game unbeaten run since the defeat at Folkestone on 12th November but also looking to add wins to the eleven draws this season. From the team which drew at Canvey Island last Saturday into the team came Soul Kader returning on a month loan from Bromley after a successful spell at Hampton & Richmond Borough, Freddie Price, Harry Revill at centre-half and Ralfi Hand all started in place of the suspended Tom Bonner, Kareem Isiaka, Ashley Nzala and Chris Dickson. Alex Hernandez returned to bench after missing the last couple of games.
Potters Bar Town come into the game bottom of the table but were buoyed by a 2-1 win at St Albans City on Tuesday night and made two changes with experienced striker Femi Akinwande and Declan Phillips starting in place of Leigh Rose and Josh Hutchinson.
The Wands threatened early on as Kader shot wide but Potters Bar came close within the first six minutes when first Leon Lobjoit headed over from a corner and then he saw a shot from 25 yards pushed onto the bar superbly by Harry Seaden.
Threw minutes later Cray scored as Kader worked his way to the left byline and set up Price to score his first goal for the club.

.For Potters Bar, Femi Akinwande on a one-on-one was denied by a block from Seaden while at the other end Kader’s acrobatic strike was pushed round the left post by Fred Burbidge. Before half time Akinwande shot wide but at the break the Wands held the advantage
The second half saw Cray start well with Lateef Adaja seeing a shot blocked and Kader denied by the legs of Burbidge.
The lively Kader looked to pounce on a Jacques Kpohomouh backpass and looked to round the keeper but Kpouhameh did well to deny a goal. Then Frankie Morgan shot wide. There was concern though when Lateef Adaja had to go off with a leg injury.
The game was scrappy in the second half with a handful of bookings including one for Tim O’Shea. Cray defended Joe Payne’s long throws well but Potters Bar perhaps should have levelled when Damary Amyadike set up Akinwande who fired over from 11 yards. Then following a spell of pinball in the area Josh Hutchinson shot over.
The Wands managed to put the game to bed two minutes into added time when Kader who has a great scoring record for a loanee player got the ball under control and lofted a quality finish and a good three points on the road and some fine, solid performances especially at the back, Ultimately it was the return of Kader that proved inspired and with a goal and an assist has carried on where he left off at the end of last season.
Cray will next be in action on Friday 12th December vs Whitehawk at Flamingo Park, 7 45 pm.
