Cray Wanderers 100 Club Draw Result – February 2026

Hello and welcome to all Members of the CWFC 100 Club…. as well as those reading this, both members and non-members, in the matchday programme…. and if you’re not a member, why not join us?

On Saturday 28th February, we held the draw for the CWFC 100 Club for February, on a bright but eerily cloudy afternoon, when Cheshunt visited Flamingo Park. Unfortunately, and we don’t know how we let it slip, but it was also the anniversary of the passing away of long time Cray Wanderers, servant, committee member and friend, Peter Jackson, a year ago today. Still missing his wicked sense of humour, his encyclopedic knowledge of players, managers, teams and refs and his football stories from his non-league experiences and of course, his friendship. But I’m sure he is still enjoying us doing well, though disappointed that Dartford were not thrashed last week. However, I wonder what he would of made of the events that occurred when we did the 100 Club Draw, at half time?

The match was an even contest, with the crowd still hoping that Cray were going to end their run of drawn games (3 successive at home). This was on the cards as Cray raced to a 2 goal lead at half time with goals by Max Fiddes (17) and a 23rd minute penalty from Alex Hernandez. But Cray like to keep you on your toes and an 85th minute Cheshunt goal made it a nervy final 5 plus minutes and despite not knowing how much added time was included, the Wands held out for that much needed 3 points to keep Cray in sixth place, just outside the playoffs.

How to the half time draw. Friend of the Club, (he had also written a few pieces for the club while we were attempting to get the Sandy Lane site for our new ground) Richard Bowdrey was spotted, rushing off to get his half time cuppa but I caught him up, asked him if he would like to do the draw for us and he thankfully obliged.

So the first ball drawn by Richard out of the tombola, was ball number 41, which belonged to Lorraine Jackson, of Bexleyheath, who wins the first prize of £150. Well done Lorraine and congratulations on being this month’s winner.

Now this is where it gets a tad “spooky”. Lorraine Jackson is Peter Jackson’s daughter. Not only that but this ball once belonged to Peter Jackson and Lorraine took it over in his memory. Peter always believed that the reason his ball had never come out was that it had escaped and rolled under a bench during an out-of-season 100 Club draw, in a bar in Dartford. (Bar Mondo). Well sorry Peter, it was always there.

It may be also be well known that Peter, shall we say, didn’t really get on well with Richard Bowdry so it is ironic that basically Richard was the person who finally drew out “Peters” lost ball. I would like to be a fly on the wall to see Peter’s reaction? Laugh or cry? But I’m sure there may be a few expletives included!

The second ball drawn out for the second prize of £100, was number 43. This ball belongs to Mark Phillips, of Brentwood, Essex. Mark is the son of another very much-missed past member of the committee, Life Vice President and friend Kerry Phillips. Congratulations Mark.

The third and final ball, drawn out of the tombola was ball number 81, which belongs to Peter Robinson, of Orpington. Congratulations Peter.

Well done and many congratulations to all our lucky winners and thanks again to all members for your continued support and participation in the 100 Club. The winners have all been contacted and paid their prizes.

Now for the usual any other business!

We would really love to get to the target 100 members, (although getting to 90 would be a start) as it would to boost the prize money I pay out to you as well as enabling me to give more back to the club. So once again, if any of your family and friends wish to join the 100 Club, or if you are reading this in the matchday programme and would like to join, please either go to 100 Club tab on the website where you can print off a form, or use the form in the matchday programme, (copies gratefully accepted if you do not want to ruin it!). Complete it and send to me at the address provided. I will contact you to select a preferable and available number. You can also catch me on most match days, “hopping” around the ground and I can give you a form.

Please also contact me with any changes of contact details or your personal circumstances as soon as possible. It would be nice that I didn’t have to find out when I checked the account. I then feel I have to make enquiries as if it is the banks fault, I can keep you in the draw. However, I will always check first, especially if you are a winner, just in case.

The petition started by Talia Wilson, who helps with matchday hospitality and catering, to improve accessible travel to Cray Wanderers FC, is still running. It currently has 1,333 signatures and slowly rising. It says we need 167 more signatures to reach the next goal?? Please support her efforts and get your friends and family involved too. It can be found at https://chng.it/kyZj9j7zYx

Please also see this related article by old friend of the club, Trevor Mulligan which tells you a bit about our issue!

Better accessibility could mean larger attendances, bigger revenues and ultimately, we would hope, more success on the pitch! It would also save my shoes getting muddy, walking along that “dirt track” along the edge of Flamingo Park, from Slades Drive!

So, until March’s draw, which looking at the fixtures and my diary, looks like it’s going to be held on our travels when we visit Aveley on Saturday 28th , and when I’ll be dusting off the set of balls we used to use when the draws were held out of season, in various hostelries in Dartford, the company of myself, Mark Hunt , Peter Jackson and Kerry Phillips. Great days!!

Anyway!

Take care and “Be lucky”.

Cheers!

COYW!!
