Cray Wanderers Weekend 6th – 8th March

Just two months of the season to go as we enter the business end and big games this weekend for the U23s and Men’s and Women’s first teams. The U23s kick off the weekend on Friday, 6th March as the Wands host Corinthian in the SCEFL Development League West. Kick off: 7.45 pm. The match pits 3rd vs 2nd in the league with Cray five points behind leaders Hollands & Blair on 28 and two behind Corinthian with Cray having two games in hand on the league leaders.

Cray had made a great start to 2026 but will be looking to bounce back from two straight defeats to Snodland Town in the league and Tonbridge Angels in the Intermediate Cup. Corinthian did have the chance in their last game to go level on points with Hollands & Blair but lost 2-1 at home to Snodland Town but will provide tough opponents.
When the teams met at Gay Dawn Farm on 16th October Cray won 2-0 with goals from Uziel Bateki and Ellis Marsh.

There are plenty of games to play with the Wands still to face Hollands & Blair at home. The U23s are always a good watch and matches with the Hoops are always keenly contested.

On Saturday 7th October the Men’s first team look to continue their playoff push with the first of three away games in March with a trip to Chichester City. Kick off: 3 pm.

Cray after the midweek games dropped down one place to 7th but are unbeaten since 9th January and last Saturday were 2-1 winners vs Cheshunt. Cray are five points behind Billericay Town and Chatham Town and two behind 6th placed Dartford. A Wands win though would keep the momentum going away from home where Cray have only lost one of sixteen on the road.

Chichester City are 13th on 42 points and probably with respect out of playoff contention but will be tough opponents. It finished 0-0 when the sides met at Flamingo Park on 8th November.

The Wands Women return to league action on Sunday 8th March as Maidstone United are the visitors in a dress rehearsal for the SECWFL League Cup Final. Kick off: 3 pm.

Cray who reached the final last Sunday with a 5-2 win at Kings Hill with goals from Frankie Mardon, Ellie Rivers, Maddie Bone (2) and Millie Main play the first of four successive Sunday home matches lie 5th in the table but have played considerably less league games than thectop 4 sides. Maidstone United are 2nd in the table and were 3-1 winners when the teams met at the Gallagher Stadium on 25th January. The league is highly likely out of Cray’s reach but could still be a great season with a cup final and a home cup semi final to come.

The Wands U18s Premier side start Sunday in Kent Youth League action vs Dover Athletic at Flamingo Park. Kick off 10 am. The Wands are 2nd and with games in hand on leaders Metrogas and could go a point behind. Dover are bottom but will always be respected and Cray will need to be at their best to narrow the gap.
