Full Time – Kent Intermediate Cup 1st Round.
Cray Wanderers 7 (Cole 33, 54, 83, 85, Wall 38, 63, McQueen 68) Folkestone Invicta U19s Acad 0 – A couple of corrections for scorers from earlier.
The Wands advanced to the 2nd Round after another performance of style, panache and professionalism against a gallant but pretty outclassed in the end Invicta Academy side.
Cray began the game in a positive manner with Louis Edwards headed over from a corner, Ralph Short shot wide, Jesse Rowe saw a near post shot held and Caden Havell-Olding shot over.
Folkestone were just hanging in there but after 33 minutes Cray took the lead when Edwards ball into the box came to Jessie Rowe whose shot was deflected in by Abdul Cole.
Five minutes later Billy Wall continued his fine start to the season with a great free kick down the left of the area.
The second half carried on in the same vein and shortly after seeing a shot off the line Cole scored his second from Archie Morley’s pass in the 54rh minute
It was four nil on 63 minutes with Wall netting his second and to all intents and purposes sealed the game.
Five minutes later Cameron McQueen made it two goals in two games from close range.
After a brief lull Cole completed his hat-trick on 83 minutes following up a saved shot to make it 6-0.
Two minutes later the scoring was completed and a fourth for Cole and a fine performance up front.
The Wands are such a great team to watch and defensively are very sound too.
We await the second round draw and the Wands next league match is on Wednesday 7th October at Snodland Town.
