FT – London Senior Cup 2nd Round – Tooting & Mitcham United 1 (Obisanya 9) Cray Wanderers 0

Full report to follow

A very young Cray Wanderers side exited the London Senior Cup but certainly not disgraced against a more experienced Tooting & Mitcham side.

The decisive moment came early on as a shot from distance was pushed out by Kian Eyers but Tim Obisanya was on hand to score.

Tooting & Mitcham had a couple of half chances to add to the lead through William Efanbe and Justus Egbueri but Cray hung in the game and David Boateng did well to force Toby McKimm to push out a shot down the left.

McKimm also saved from Billy Wall getting down to smother the shot and the very impressive Miller Fleming flash a shot across goal.

Before half time Conor Melody clipped the crossbar direct from a corner.

Cray came close a minute after half time when Boateng hooked a shot just past the right post.

Tooting and Mitcham just had that bit of knowhow and Obisanya saw a shot held by Eyers.

Cray kept going and Wall shot over and brought all five subs on to give experience but the home side defended well although Boateng saw a near post effort held.

Tooting & Mitcham had late chances to wrap the game up although Cray defended their box superbly.

Aaron Smith-Joseph shot over, Melody saw a shot blocked by Kane Atkins.

The final chance came in stoppage time when Aaron Shawa set up Max Oldham who was denied by a fine stop from Eyers.

In the end though that early goal proved enough but the Wands did themselves proud and gained some good experience in the process.
