Cray Wanderers 100 Club Draw for May 2025
Hello to all Members of the CWFC 100 Club.
The season may have finished but the 100 Club continues. This brings us the tricky problem of where to hold the draws when we do not have games, especially when it hits you that you will be without our dear friends and committee men, Kerry Phillips and Peter Jackson who used to join myself and Mark Hunt at various venues around Dartford, Greenhithe and sometimes in New Eltham. You are always and will forever be in our thoughts.
So where to hold May’s draw?
I had a few options? Took the black bag with the balls on the Chelsea Supporters coach to Nottingham, hoping to grab someone at the service station. But it was full of Sunderland fans returning home from their successful play off final and no spare tables were available. Shame! I had earmarked 4 people who also had relationships with non-league football. A Chelmsford City supporter, a Horsham supporter and a Bromley supporter. Even an old bloke who worked for the Surrey FA as a referee administrator. All knew about the Wands and my association. Maybe another time. I also had the chance to return to Flamingo Park as the “battered” PA box wasn’t working and they couldn’t find the key. But after a late phone call, all seemed to be resolved? But time and my free time to arrange anything was running out.
So on the night of the Europa Conference League Final with Chelsea and Real Betis, when I visited my sisters house, as she also has TNT, a large TV and a fish and chip shop, (for another one in my area has closed and I have to hunt for a closer one to my home) it gave me an opportunity to do May’s 100 Club Draw. I selected my nephew, Robert, who has autism to do the draw and had to explain carefully to pick 3 balls out of the bag and show them to his mum, who was filming the event on my phone, for proof. {A video which I will try to attach to this email}. We have taken him to a few games but he doesn’t really understand what is going on. He also doesn’t particularly like the shouting. But he always asks how Chelsea did when his Mum returns home from a game and is happy if they win. He was also nervous but happy to help me with the draw.

The first ball Robert drew out of the tombola was number 49, which belonged to Colin Head, of Bromley, who wins the first prize of £150. Colin is a regular at Flamingo Park and also writes Cray match reports for various Kent based Football websites. Well done Colin and many congratulations on being this month’s winner.
The second ball drawn out for the second prize of £100, was number 47. This ball belongs to Darren Attew of Swansea in South Wales. Congratulations Darren.
The third and final ball, drawn by Robert, and the winner of £50, went to Frank Glanz with ball number 76. Congratulations Frank.
Many congratulations to all our lucky winners and thanks again to all members for your continued support and participation in the 100 Club.
We now have the option of paying winnings by internet banking as well as by cheque. I will be in touch with the winners to find out their preferences soon.
With attendances growing at home and a “Massive” (pardon the pun) increase in our away support, we are only seeing a very slow increase in 100 Club membership. (We now have 18 vacant numbers to reach 90 members). The directors had hoped to reach the 100 mark, prompted by the move to Flamingo Park. If any of your family or friends, and that would include any new supporters, please go to the 100 Club tab on the website, print off a form and send to me. I will contact you where you can select a preferable and available number. The directors have serious plans and expectations for the club and would like to “push on to the next level”. It was Lord Kitchener who said, in the famous poster,” Cray Wanderers needs you!” An increase in membership will mean an increase in prize money and a larger donation to the Football Club.
Although I do check changes in contact details and payments to the bank account, I would appreciate it if you contact me with any changes to your personal circumstances as soon as possible. For one, how will I know where to send your winnings?
So, until June’s draw, wherever and whenever it will be, take care and “Be lucky”.
Cheers!
COYW!!
