Cray Wanderers 100 Club Draw Result – June 2025

Hello and welcome to all Members of the CWFC 100 Club.

The time has come when football has finally returned to Flamingo Park. It doesn’t seem that long ago since we fought bravely but were defeated 3-4 away at our “Auld Enemy” (as opposed to our new enemy…answers on a post card to…) Lewes. We’ve been busy bringing in new blood into the club but have unfortunately had to say goodbye to a few old faces. Nyren Clunis, Darion Dowrich and Shaun Rowley to name 3. The team now face the usual round of pre-season friendly fixtures, where “Trialist” and his siblings become annoyingly prevalent but unfortunately necessary.

However, not long to wait before the real fixtures arrive which I believe will be on Thursday 16th July at 6pm.

But as we all know, the 100 Club never stops and runs all year round. And as also mentioned previously, where to hold the draw becomes a problem in the close season. Was thinking of popping down to FP, see who’s there and ask whoever’s there for a minute of their time. But it’s a long way for me to go and it was bloomin’ hot so thought better of it. I also decided to give my nephew Robert the night off. Perhaps if there was better public transport to Flamingo Park, I may have braved it? Which brings me nicely to a petition started by a lady who helps Amanda with hospitality on matchdays, to improve accessible travel to Cray Wanderers FC. She needs a lot more signatures. Please support her efforts and get your friends and family involved too. It can be found at https://chng.it/kyZj9j7zYx

So it was on the day of our first friendly, last Saturday 5th July, against our old friends Beckenham Town that we held June’s draw, where Cray won comfortably 3-1 with goals from 3 of our new signings Ashley Nzala, Alex Hernandez (pen) and Tyrese Briscoe against a Beckenham side that contained Sam Wood, Jack Holland and George Porter.

I asked owner, chairman, barman and friend of the club Peter Palmer to do the draw before the start of the match, who was then jokingly ridiculed by a small Beckenham contingent who asked “Why him?” followed by a few expletives. He’s always willing to give us a game, every pre-season, he gave us the use of their ground for a London Senior Cup match in 2010 when Bromley couldn’t accommodate us and he does come and see us whenever Beckenham do not have a match. He was also on our table at the Isthmian League end of season awards dinner a few years ago. That shut them up! Only problem was that he was planning to watch the match from the balcony of the club house so thankfully Mark Hunt carried the old tombola upstairs for me.

So the whistle went for half time and he immediately got out of his seat to eagerly do the draw.

The first ball Peter drew out of the tombola was number 29, which belonged to Peter Robinson of Orpington who wins the first prize of £150. Well done Peter and many congratulations on being this month’s winner.

The second ball drawn out for the second prize of £100, was number 72. This ball belongs to Bryan Daughtrey, again of Orpington. Congratulations Bryan.

The third and final ball, drawn by Peter and the winner of £50, went to Carole Phillips, of Greenhithe, husband of our always remembered Life Vice President and friend with ball number 26. Congratulations Carole..

Many congratulations to all our lucky winners and thanks again to all members for your continued support and participation in the 100 Club.

I will be in touch soon to find out your preferences on how you would like to receive your winnings.

With attendances growing at home and a “Massive” (pardon the pun) increase in our away support, we are only seeing a very slow increase in 100 Club membership. (We now have 17 vacant numbers to reach 90 members). The directors had hoped to reach the 100 mark, prompted by the move to Flamingo Park. If any of your family or friends, and that would include any of our new supporters, please go to the 100 Club tab on the website, print off a form and send the completed form to me. I will contact you to select a preferable and available number. An increase in membership will mean an increase in prize money and a larger donation to the Football Club.

Although I do check changes in contact details and payments to the bank account, I would appreciate it if you contact me with any changes to your personal circumstances as soon as possible. For one, how will I know where to send your winnings?

So, until July’s draw, which will probably be held at the Ashford Town or Maidstone United friendly’s at the end of July/beginning of August, take care and “Be lucky”.

Cheers!

COYW!!
