Cray Wanderers Weekend – 13/15th February

Please see here Cray Wanderers activity this Valentine’s weekend for our Men and Women’s first team and the Wands U23s and U18s sides.
We begin on Friday 13th February with the Cray Wanderers U23s playing the fifth and final game of a quintuple of home Friday matches as Steve Owen’s side face Snodland Town at Flamingo Park. KO 7.45 pm
Cray have been in great form going into the New Year and have won the last four home matches including an impressive 2-0 win against Tunbridge Wells on 6th February. The Wands are 3rd in the SCEFL Development League West on 25 points after 11 games and are five behind leaders Holland’s & Blair with three games in hand. Snodland travel from the Medway area to face Cray for the first time this season and are 9th in the table with seven points but have only played seven games. The U23s are always enjoyable to watch whatever the weather.
On Saturday 14th February there is a huge game for the first team for a second successive Kent derby as Tim O’Shea’s Wands team host Chatham Town in a clash of playoff contenders. Kick off 3 pm. The Wands are 7th in the table with 47 points from 30 games and were very unfortunate not to pick up three points against Ramsgate at the weekend but will need to be at their very best to beat a Chats side in 4th on 49 points but have been beaten in four successive home matches. Both teams have been particularly good away from home with both unbeaten away since 11th November so maybe Chatham come into the game as favourites but it should be a great match.

It certainly was when the teams met at the Bauvil Stadium on 18th October finishing in a 3-3-3 draw with Kareem Isiaka, Alex Hernandez and an injury time leveller from Ashley Nzala earning a deserved point. With the Wands away to Dartford on the 21st February this continues a run of games against sides contending for the playoffs.
£15 admission, £10 concessions, £5 U18s – on the gate or online at www.cray-wanderers.com/tickets/
On Sunday 15th February the Cray Wanderers Women continue on their cup adventures in the Kent FA Plate with the first of two successive visits to Kings Hill. Kick off 2 pm in West Malling, ME19 4QP.

The Wands who are 4th in SECWFL Premier are already into the Semi-Finals of the League Cup and now look to progress further in the Kent FA competition.
So far Danny Stanton’s side have won both ties away from home and in style beating Gravesham (7-1) and Park Regis (5-2) to advance.

The two Cray Wanderers U18s sides have both reached the Kent Youth League Cup Quarter-Finals and both are in early morning action on Sunday.
The U18s North are at home in the Quarter-Finals vs Hythe Town. The match at Flamingo Park kicks off at 10 am.
The Wands are third in the Kent Youth League North table but only two behind leaders Old Wilsonians. So far Cray have defeated Deal Town, Lordswood and at Sheppey United (8-1) to advance to the Quarter Final
The Wands KYL Premier side who won the Kent FA Cup last season are away at Dulwich Hamlet. Kick off: 10 am. The game takes place at Green Dale Fields, SE22 8TX. Kick off 10 am
The Wands have been high scorers in the previous three rounds scoring 26 goals and none conceded. They began with a 10-0 win at Ramsgate followed by an 11-0 win at home to Dulwich Village. In the last round the Wands won 5-0 vs Fleetdown. Cray stand 2nd in the Premier table, three behind leaders Metrogas but have played a game less.
Good luck to all our teams and it should be a great weekend.
