Cray Wanderers 100 Club Draw Result for November.

Hello and welcome to all Members of the CWFC 100 Club.

On Saturday 22nd November, we held Novembers draw for the CWFC 100 Club, on a extremely cold and gloomy day when Burgess Hill Town visited Flamingo Park. Considering the conditions, a decent crowd of just over 500 braved the elements, most of which, hoping to see Cray build on their terrific away victory to the once, it has to be said, “mighty” Welling United and to see if the 1-8 result at Folkestone was a very distant memory.
Racing to a 2-0 lead, that could and should have been more, Burgess Hill came out for the second half a different team, and as the rain came down, pulled 2 goals back. Cray took the lead in the 71st minute and looked comfortable when the board for 5 extra minutes was held up. But a challenge in the box by our new loanee from Hull City, Harry Revill, resulted in a penalty in the 6th minute of added time and was struck home for another painful draw (3-3). The Burgess Hill fans sheltering from the rain behind me, moaned at my announcement as if I meant that I thought that the game should have ended by the time of the penalty. “Fergie Time”! But remember! It is a “minimum of 5 minutes, which I did clearly state. LEARN THE RULES and maybe clean your ears out!!

At half time, while sourcing out someone who could do the draw for us, I bumped into supporter David Pittman, who was standing, sheltering from the rain with many others, underneath the clubhouse, but lucky for me, was near to where I do the draws. A member of the “Massive” and the Supporters club, he can occasionally be seen accompanied by his dog, Milo at both home and away matches.

So the first ball drawn by David out of the tombola, with many others in view, including a bloke who took an interest in what we were doing, Gary, (he could be a 100 Club member. I should have asked his surname!) was ball number 87, which belonged to Colin Heys of Orpington who wins the first prize of £150. Colin assists myself and Mark Hunt in the media area with spotting things we may have missed or are uncertain of. Well done Colin and many congratulations on being this month’s winner.

The second ball drawn out for the second prize of £100, was number 20. This ball belongs to Arthur Hillman, of Sevenoaks. Congratulations Arthur. If you recognise the surname, you are correct. Arthur is the father of our eminent chairman, Gary

The third and final ball, drawn by David and the winner of £50, went to James Wilson, of Swanley, with ball number 27. Congratulations James.

Well done and many congratulations to all our lucky winners and thanks again to all members for your continued support and participation in the 100 Club. I will be in touch with the winners shortly to enquire how they would like the delivery of their prize money.

Now for the usual any other business!

We would really love to get to the target 100 members, (although getting to 90 would be a start) as it would to boost the prize money and enable me to give more back to the club. So if any of your family and friends wish to join the 100 Club, please point them in the direction of the 100 Club tab on the website, (which I’m advised is  going to be more regularly updated) print off a form and send the completed form to me at the address provided. A form is also in the new-styled matchday programme. Again, copy it if you don’t want to ruin your programme and again send it to me. I will contact you to select a preferable and available number. You can also catch me on most match days and I can give you a form.

Please also contact me with any changes to your personal circumstances as soon as possible. I will always check first if you are a winner but makes it easier for me.

I hope you are enjoying Luca’s match-day commentary and if unable to attend a match are finding it helpful. He has started attending away fixtures too. I have used it myself on a few occasions.

You have to set up a log in and it did make me download an app called ”Mixlr”. So now when I click on the Mixlr app, it goes straight to “Radio Wands”’

The petition started by Talia Wilson, who helps with matchday hospitality and catering to improve accessible travel to Cray Wanderers FC, is still running. Please support her efforts and get your friends and family involved too. It can be found at https://chng.it/kyZj9j7zYx

I’ve been using the 162 bus to Slades Drive and then the walk along the “footpath” (??) by the side of Flamingo Park but will have to revert to other ways during the winter months. It wasn’t good on Saturday I can tell you!

So, until December’s draw which looking at the fixtures and my diary could be slightly earlier than usual, (good for the winners to get a bit of extra cash for Christmas shopping) on the day of the Whitehawk match with is now to be played on a re-arranged date of Friday 12th December.

Take care and “Be lucky”.

Cheers!

COYW!!
